Honest answers to what we hear most often about neurotoxin treatments.
Will I look frozen or overdone? Not with our approach. The frozen look results from too much product placed without attention to facial anatomy. We use conservative doses targeted precisely to the muscles responsible for your specific lines — leaving your expression natural and intact. Our goal is always that people notice you look great, not that you've had something done.
Does neurotoxin hurt? Most patients describe it as a mild pinch or pressure — brief and well-tolerated. We use very fine needles and can apply topical numbing cream before treatment if you're concerned about discomfort. The appointment itself typically takes 15–30 minutes including assessment time.
How young is too young to start Botox? There's no magic age — it depends on your individual facial anatomy and when dynamic lines (lines from expression) first become noticeable. Most patients benefit from starting in their late 20s to mid-30s, when prejuvenation (preventing lines from becoming permanent) is still entirely possible. We assess whether you're a good candidate for neurotoxin at your consultation regardless of age.
What's the difference between Botox and DAXXIFY? Both relax muscles to soften expression lines — the mechanism is the same. The key difference is duration: DAXXIFY lasts 5–6 months for most patients, compared to 3–4 months for Botox. DAXXIFY uses a proprietary peptide stabilizer instead of human serum albumin, giving it a unique formulation. DAXXIFY also tends to have a faster onset for many patients. If you want fewer appointments, DAXXIFY is worth considering.
What if I don't like my result? Neurotoxin is temporary — results wear off over 3–6 months depending on the product. If you feel undertreated, we can add more at your 2-week touch-up assessment. If you feel overtreated, time will resolve it. This is why we prefer to start conservatively — it's always easier to add than to wait for over-treatment to wear off.
